VILLAGE HALL AGM - 27 April 2016

The Annual General Meeting will be held on 27th April 2016 at 8pm in the Village Hall, Rushden. We would love to see as many villagers as possible there and are willing to entice you with a glass of wine!

The Committee organises fundraising events to generate funds for maintaining, and enhancing, the hall as a facility for all local people.

We are always looking for fresh ideas for events and for developments for the hall. We have had Comedy Nights, musical evenings, foodie events, quizzes, summer fetes, Christmas Tree Festivals, a calendar featuring our lovely men folk in the buff (tastefully of course).....& the list goes on. All these events have enabled us to decorate the hall, build a smart new barbecue, install the large glazed doors onto the green & buy new curtains and equipment, all making the hall a great venue for hire. What next???

Please come along to the meeting. If you would like to join the committee.......great! If you would just like to get involved in some events........great! If you don't want to be involved, but have a good idea for fundraising......great! Or if you're just curious & want a glass of wine....great!

Hope to see you all there!

RUSHDEN VILLAGE HALL NEWS 28 April 2014

The Village Hall Committee AGM was held on 28th April last. The Chairman, Karen Pettyfer detailed the busy year (a melee of mad moments!) just passed starting with Rushden’s first comedy night, fete (soggy!), the Christmas Fair and tree festival in the Church with a delightful concert from Sandon School.
All this and other hard work has meant that once again the hall can be refurbished and improved to a high standard including a new awning for the BBQ area which gets good use and qualified for a NHDC grant.
More ‘events’ are planned (to which food and drink will undoubtedly be added) PLUS Rushden’s first ever ‘panto’ to be held on 6th and 7th Feb. 2015. (Note these dates in your diary ! Ed.)
It was agreed that the name of the panto should be released in stages. The first stage is therefore “ xxxx xxxxx xx’ x’xxx”.
(After this startling revelation. Ed.) A new committee (Trustees) was then elected from which the following were elected as officers :

Chairman   Debs Collis debscollis@btopenworld.com

Vice Chairman Ann Garrott ann@pgarrott.fsnet.co.uk

Secretary Elspeth Gutteridge elspeth.roberts@talk21.com

Treasurer   Sue Whiting  theorchardhouse@btinternet.com

Bookings Secretary  Sue Whiting ++

Maintenance  Richard Lewis rjlmail101@aol.com

Post script :
Calling all Mrs (and Mr) Mops of Rushden to help spring clean the village hall. Bring ladders, window cleaning kit, brushes etc …and (er) mops! Also to help re-organise the store room. Hurrah!! Time : 11 am, Date Sat. 7th June.

RUSHDEN VILLAGE HALL NEWS January 2013

As fast as we raise the funds, we find a need for them! The store room roof has been replaced as it was leaking badly, and we are about to start on our exciting project to install French Doors at the opposite end of the hall, upgrade some of the windows and redecorate throughout. This is at considerable expense and has only been made possible through the work of the committee and others to organise fundraising events which you have all supported so well and a grant from North Hertfordshire District Council. We are planning an event to launch the new-look hall, details of which will be given in future gazettes and on the website, but the date is set for 27 April. If you would be interested in helping with any of our events, joining the committee, or have any great ideas for new events, why not come along to our Annual General Meeting in the hall at 8pm on 17 April., where you will hear a reminder of what we have done in the last year and why.

Rushden Village Hall Committee News Feb 2012

Our main fundraising events in 2011 were the Annual Summer Fete in June, where we were blessed with good weather and raised an amazing £4,629, and our 2nd Christmas Gift Fair in November, which was well attended and raised a £1,054! These events rely on a lot of time and effort being put in, not only by the Hall Committee and their co-erced families, but a number of others as well. The Committee would like to thank all those who turn out to help in the preparation, operation and clearing-up of these events. We couldn’t do it without you!

We would also like to thank Emma Hawthorne and Tom Roper who have been cleaning the hall as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

If you would be interested in joining the Committee, please come along to the AGM which will be held on 17 April at 8pm in the Village Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Our 2012 Summer Fete will be on Saturday 16 June – look out for more details in future issues of the Gazette.

Village Hall News February 2011

...NEWS...NEWS...NEWS...

****Burns Night Bash – 29 January****
A great evening was had by all, with music, poetry and comedy to accompany the haggis, neeps & tatties and luscious desserts. Over £1,300 was raised for the Hall funds! Grateful thanks go to “After Hours” who got our guests bopping, Doug Wood for his touching tribute to the haggis and his guidance in the Scottish Country Dancing, and all other performers, cooks & helpers - a great team effort!

****Where Does the Money Go?****
The successful events over the year have enabled us to support the Church and to boost Hall funds. We are looking at ideas to improve the hall lighting so as to be appropriate for all the different events and activities that take place there. We also want to purchase some more fold-up tables that can be easily stored, moved and set up. These improvements will all help to make the hall a more inviting venue to hire for parties / clubs / meetings.
